The differentiating factor that separates the continuation and reversal pattern is the direction of the trend when the falling wedge appears. Both scenarios contain different market conditions which must be taken into consideration. The falling wedge pattern is interpreted as both a bullish continuation and bullish reversal pattern which gives rise to some confusion in the identification of the pattern. Traders ought to know the differences between the rising and falling wedge patterns in order to identify and trade them effectively. The rising wedge pattern is the opposite of the falling wedge and is observed in down trending markets. Through the Graduated Driver License (GDL) Program, your teen will go through two phases of licensing before they can receive their full license. Once your teen has the required education, they can head over to TDPS and get their first license. Check with your child’s school for the details. However, if your teen’s school does, this can be a particularly accessible option for your family. Public School Driver Education. Not every Texas public school offers driver education. Follow TDLR’s guide for parents to ensure you record the education hours correctly. According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, PTDE requires a minimum of 76 hours of classroom and in-car instruction to complete. You can check the Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas DPS or TDPS) website to find an approved driver education course. Using learning modules, online education is self-paced, and progress is measured through quizzes that must be passed within 3 attempts. Also offered by certified driver training schools, online driver education can be a schedule-friendly and financially accessible option. You can find approved driver's license programs and driver education options on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) website. Your teen would take classes with other teens and be guided by professionals as they study for and take the DPS written test and have in-car lessons to teach teens safe driving. This gives them a full S subshell, which is a pretty stable configuration. For example, metals often lose enough electrons to leave two valence electrons remaining (example: carbon family with +2 charge). It is an icon of chemistry and is widely used in physics and other sciences. Most elements have the ability to form more than one charge, but there are patterns to be found there, as well. The periodic table, also known as the periodic table of the elements, is an ordered arrangement of the chemical elements into rows ('periods') and columns ('groups').You can check out this fancier Periodic Table to see the most common charges of most of the elements. Therefore, sometimes that row is thought of as having “+/- 4” charge, which fits nicely between the +3 and -3 columns. But it’s possible for carbon and silicon to form a C 4- / Si 4- ions, and all of that family’s elements can form +4 ions. The elements in the carbon family aren’t listed as +4 or -4 charged ions, because they are more likely to form covalent bonds instead of being ions. For example, iron can form Fe 2+ and Fe 3+ ions, depending on the situation. ![]()

Rarely, it’s a mid-rally challenge at the net, but I haven’t had one of those yet. In watching the play, you should know what’s going to be challenged. VT: I was waiting for you to use that phrase. In an ideal world, the techs or producers are volleyball savvy. Then the producer talks to the camera people and asking for feeds. In most cases like that, you’re not working the editor’s wheel, you’re talking to a producer over a headset. In some cases, I’ll be at the monitor for 30-40 seconds not looking at anything yet, just waiting on the tech to get to where the challenge occurred. All I have to do is adjust the frame-by-frame. When I receive a challenge and I go to the monitor, a really good replay tech already has the situation cued up on the monitor behind me, and we can be done in 30 seconds. How good the tech is is really important, because it speeds up the process. Some techs cue at every third contact, some cue every time the ball crosses the net, some just start the film when the whistle blows and lets it run until the end of the play and you have to search. The Big Ten has someone who sits at the monitor. In terms of replay techs, that varies tremendously from school to school. Luckily, I haven’t had to deal with that. I have heard of other cases in other matches where coaches will say, “Hey, do I have any timeouts left? No? OK, I guess I’ll challenge that. I personally, to address the delay part of the question, I’ve not had a coach challenge something purely as a delay tactic. VT: Have you seen changes (from school to school) in the ways some replay techs work with you? Are coaches from conference to conference using the CRS as a delay tactic? ![]() Some of the schools in the ACC have used it on matches I’ve had. VT: How many different conferences do you see CRS being implemented? All of the calls that they are challenging, I’m there mentally as well, questioning the call, almost wanting them to challenge. ![]() ![]() In terms of the purpose of the CRS, it’s not always been positive on how coaches react and how coaches challenge a call. For me, I see it as an opportunity for coaches and officials to have more interactions and discuss things. Some of the other officials were worried that we’d be wrong, and I think it’s more important to get the call right. How has it been for you as an official?īT: I’ve really enjoyed it. VM: For some conferences, this is the first implementation of CRS full-time. We hit him up with some questions of what we’ve seen, what’s on the horizon, and what possible improvements could come. We interviewed Bill Thornburgh, double national referee (PAVO National and USAV National referee) and FIVB official who has had multiple CRS calls to monitor in different conferences and has seen every possible positive and negative outcome of the CRS. So, us volleynerds at VolleyMob decided to go to the source. This presents a few issues not only with teams that might challenge a call, but for referees responsible for using the CRS in the manner in which it was intended. ![]() However, for the conferences that do include CRS, there are a maximum of six cameras with an independent monitoring crew assigned to the match that may or may not have knowledge of what they are looking for, let alone knowledge of the game and its possible actions. Obviously, this involves a heavy investment that no NCAA program has yet to implement. Additionally, both the second and first referees have small touch screen monitors mounted to each pole to see what the CRS sees. The FIVB has already had CRS for some time at the professional and international level, which includes up 12 high definition cameras with a full CRS review team seated behind the scorer’s table specifically monitored by the second referee. For those of us that study the minutiae of the game, the Challenge Review System, or CRS, has been an integral part of match management, coaching strategy and the need to “get it right”, similar to many other sports. ![]() Values are a powerful tool for directing the eye. You can tell where the light is coming from through clues such as highlights, rim light, and cast shadow. What happens if we strip away the color? We’re left with black and whites, or values. It’s an odd concept at first, so let’s visualize it. We’ll go into it in more detail later in the course, but value is just lightness or darkness of a color. ![]() If you work with strong lighting, a value comp is important. ![]() In this case, I wanted a yellow sickly color that faded into a complementary violet to create a focal point That’s why we comp! It can be tempting to get into details when comp’ing, but stay loose and focus on the idea. You might have spent hours coloring, only to hate how the color palette came out. Similar to how thumbnails are quick and cheap, comps allow you to test ideas. They’re commonly used to figure out the values (how light or dark objects are) and the colors. They’re quick works that show the client (and yourself) a rough idea of the final output. I only learned it a few years into my NSFW art career.Ĭomps are short for “comprehensive”. This is a more unknown step in the illustration process. This is the time for you to figure out the big picture technicalities, like perspective and construction (breaking down complex forms like the body into simple shapes like rectangles and circles). Notice how I leave out fine details like the beads of the bra top, and the gems on her choker and belt. Once you’ve chosen a thumbnail, it’s time to start adding in details. That’s important you want to think about big picture things such as arrangement of elements within the canvas, camera angles, and the action of the character. Much like you stretch before a workout, thumbnails help you cut through ideas that don’t work. After all, who cares about these small sketches if you have the final artwork in mind already?īut our first idea is rarely our best. It might seem more fun to jump to drawing.
